Marbella named Best Destination for Arab Tourism in Europe 2026

Marbella has been officially recognised as the Best Destination in Europe for Arab Tourism in 2026, reinforcing its position as one of the Mediterranean’s most internationally attractive lifestyle locations.

The recognition was awarded by the Arab League Tourism Organisation (ATO), following an in-depth evaluation of destinations across Europe. The assessment considered factors such as quality of accommodation, safety, accessibility, hospitality standards, cultural openness and the overall visitor experience.

An accolade built on long-term consistency

Rather than reflecting a single season or campaign, the award highlights Marbella’s long-standing ability to attract visitors from the Arab world year after year. For decades, the city has been a preferred choice for travellers seeking a combination of privacy, high-end services, favourable climate and a welcoming social environment.

President of the ATO, Bandar Fahad AlFehaid, congratulated the municipality and expressed his interest “in continuing to strengthen future collaboration in a way that contributes to boosting tourism growth, exchanging experiences and achieving new successes for both parties.”

According to the organisation behind the award, Marbella stood out for the consistency of its tourism offering, the quality of its infrastructure and its ability to adapt to the expectations of international visitors without losing its local character.

Safety, service and lifestyle at the core

Marbella’s appeal goes beyond beaches and sunshine. The city offers a well-established luxury ecosystem that includes internationally recognised hotels, private villas, fine dining, golf resorts, wellness facilities and secure residential communities.

The Mayor of Marbella, Ángeles Muñoz, welcomed the recognition, describing it as confirmation of a long-term strategy focused on excellence, safety and diversification. She underlined Marbella’s role as an open and international city, capable of welcoming visitors from a wide range of cultural backgrounds while maintaining high standards of service.

Strengthening international connections

The award also reflects the strong cultural and economic links that Marbella has developed with countries across the Middle East and North Africa. Tourism plays an important role in these relationships, but it is closely tied to wider connections through investment, real estate, education and cultural exchange.

Recognition at a European level helps reinforce Marbella’s visibility within these markets and supports the city’s efforts to promote year-round tourism.

Marbella’s global recognition

Once seen primarily as a seasonal resort many years ago, the city has firmly established itself as a sought-after permanent base, attracting visitors who return not just for holidays, but increasingly as homeowners and long-term residents.

The mark of a successful future

Being named Europe’s leading destination for Arab tourism in 2026 is expected to have a positive impact across multiple sectors. Increased visibility supports local businesses, encourages off-season travel and strengthens confidence among international investors who value stability and long-term appeal.

For Marbella, the recognition is less about a single title and more about confirmation of a direction it has been following for years. A focus on quality over volume, international openness and a lifestyle that works just as well in January as it does in July.
