Marbella reigns in Spain’s top 5 most searched for areas

Marbella continues to enchant. According to A Place in the Sun, it is among the top five most searched for areas in Spain in 2025, alongside Torrevieja, Estepona, Villamartín and Orihuela Costa.

Even more telling, Spain itself retains its position as the most sought after country among British buyers exploring overseas property in 2025. Its appeal lies in its resort style living, sunny climate, ease of access and variety of locations.

Why Marbella captivates property buyers

Timeless luxury + lifestyle appeal.

Marbella’s allure rests on decades of cultivated elegance. Once a fishing town, it has transformed since the 1950s into Spain’s most glamorous coastal hot spot. Marbella the most searched area in Spain, its lavish beach clubs, five star hotels, luxury villas and famous ambience continue to captivate international buyers at an ever increasing rate.

Climate + convenience.

Its mild winters and excellent connectivity via Málaga airport make Marbella a comfortable year round destination. The area offers all you could want in terms of amenities, from the epitome of luxury to the incredibly affordable, with an abundance of world-class golf courses, fine dining, shopping and family friendly attractions that make it both a dream home and a wise investment.

Neighbourhood diversity.

  • Old Town, with its sunlit Plaza de los Naranjos and charming alleyways.
  • Golden Mile, the embodiment of Mediterranean prestige, with landmarks like Marbella Club and Puente Romano.
  • Sierra Blanca, offering elevated exclusivity, landscaped plots, gated privacy and wide sea views.

  • Nueva Andalucía, also known as The Golf Valley, with strong rental appeal for villas and townhouses thanks to its proximity to Puerto Banús.
  • Marbella East, increasingly popular with investors for high-end renovation projects. This area boasts some of the best beaches on the coast, exclusive beach clubs such as Nikki Beach and La Cabane, numerous golf courses, excellent restaurants, international schools and proximity to Marbella town.
  • Benahavís, renowned for its hillside luxury, fine dining and gated communities, offering tranquillity and privacy within easy reach of Marbella and Puerto Banús.
  • Estepona, a vibrant town west of Marbella that has seen major regeneration in recent years. With its attractive old town, modern amenities and expanding luxury developments, Estepona is becoming a strong alternative for international buyers.
  • Other areas with strong family or retiree appeal include San Pedro de Alcántara, Guadalmina.

Marbella’s lifestyle is the driver for the surging demand

Marbella’s surging demand in 2025

Recent reports show that Marbella is not only popular in online searches but also a leader in actual sales. In the first quarter of 2025 there was an increase of 25% over the same period of 2024 and 48% over the same period in 2019 as a direct result of the increase in tourism and activity in the winter months, a continuing strong international demand, limited supply of prime properties and Marbella’s allure as a global luxury destination.

Demand exceeds supply

Average asking prices in Marbella have climbed from €4,812 per square metre in June 2024 to €5,213 per square metre in June 2025, an increase of approximately 8.3% year on year, despite already hitting new highs just 12 months earlier with an increase of 13.7% from June 2023 to June 2024. These figures underline Marbella’s status as a premium market, where international demand continues to exceed supply.
