Three things set golf in Marbella apart: the climate, the design pedigree, and the lifestyle.
With over 320 days of sunshine a year and an annual average temperature in the 18–20 °C range, the playing season effectively never closes. The roll-call of architects who have shaped Marbella’s golf courses reads like a who’s-who of the sport — Robert Trent Jones Sr., Javier Arana, Dave Thomas, Cabell B. Robinson and Manuel Piñero. And once the round is done, the area’s beach clubs, Michelin-listed restaurants and luxury marinas (Puerto Banús is minutes away) make every golfing trip a complete escape.
Marbella is also the gateway to Spain’s most exclusive golf-property market, with frontline-golf villas and apartments concentrated in Nueva Andalucía, La Quinta, Río Real and Cabopino.

Here is our independent, locally curated guide to the ten best.

One of Spain's most decorated golf clubs in Marbella, Real Club de Golf Las Brisas was designed by Robert Trent Jones Sr. in 1968 and has since hosted the World Cup, the Spanish Open and the Volvo Masters. The course rewards strategic play: more than 80 bunkers, multiple lakes and slick, well-protected greens demand thoughtful club selection. The clubhouse is unapologetically private — one of the most refined in Marbella.

A second Robert Trent Jones Sr. design in the heart of Golf Valley, Los Naranjos Golf Club is a parkland classic threaded through old orange groves — hence the name. Wide, fair fairways and undulating greens make it forgiving from the tee but demanding around the pin. The lively clubhouse is one of the most social hubs in the Marbella golf scene.

Set high in the Benahavís hills, Marbella Club Golf Resort is a Dave Thomas mountain course with some of the most cinematic views of any Marbella golf course — Gibraltar, the Mediterranean and, on clear days, the African coastline. Tee times are deliberately spaced (twelve minutes apart), so play is uncrowded. A free shuttle connects the legendary Marbella Club Hotel with the course.

Designed by Javier Arana — Spain's most celebrated native architect — Aloha Golf Club has hosted the Andalucía Open and is a fixture of Europe's amateur calendar. Generous landing zones, tall pines and pristine greens make for one of the most enjoyable rounds in Golf Valley. The training facilities are among the best on the Costa del Sol.

Three interchangeable 9-hole loops by three-time European Tour winner and Ryder Cup captain Manuel Piñero give La Quinta unusual variety. The course suits mixed-ability groups, the practice academy is world-class, and the on-site Westin hotel makes it a natural choice for a stay-and-play break.

Just west of Marbella in Casares, Finca Cortesín is widely rated the Marbella area's top golf course and one of the finest in Europe. Cabell B. Robinson laid out a 6,800-metre championship test with some of the best Bermuda greens on the continent. In 2023 it hosted the Solheim Cup, cementing its status. The resort itself — Michelin-starred dining and a private beach club included — is in another league.

A gentler 18 designed by Enrique Canales, Santa Clara Golf Marbella is the friendly choice for mid-to-high handicappers. Wide fairways, mature trees and a generous layout make for stress-free golf without sacrificing scenery — the back nine drops toward the sea in genuinely memorable fashion.

Five minutes from Marbella centre, Río Real Golf is a Javier Arana classic from 1965, beautifully framed by the river that gives it its name and ending at the Mediterranean. The on-site boutique hotel and spa make it one of the easiest stay-and-play options in town.

A shorter, undulating layout by Juan Ligués Creus, Cabopino Golf Marbella packs character into every hole. Elevated tees, blind shots over ravines and Mediterranean glimpses make this an excellent option when time is short — and one of Marbella's better-value tee times.

Tucked into a wooded valley east of Marbella, Santa María Golf & Country Club is a par-72 of contrasts — a tight, technical front nine into a wider, more forgiving back. The Andalusian-style clubhouse is a destination in itself.

Within a 4 km radius of Puerto Banús sits Spain's densest cluster of premium golf clubs — known locally as Golf Valley. Las Brisas, Los Naranjos, Aloha and La Quinta share the same valley, with the Sierra Blanca rising to the north and La Concha mountain framing every fairway. It is the single most coveted address for frontline-golf property in Marbella, and the main reason Nueva Andalucía has become a permanent residence for international golfers rather than just a holiday spot.

Marbella's tournament heritage is the deepest in continental Europe. Finca Cortesín hosted the 2023 Solheim Cup, Aloha has held the Andalucía Open, Real Club de Golf Las Brisas was the venue of the Volvo Masters and the World Cup, and the wider Costa del Sol has staged the Spanish Open more than thirty times. The current calendar continues that tradition, and many courses welcome amateur tournaments accessible to visiting players.
Golf in Marbella is genuinely a 12-month proposition. October to May is peak — mild days, low humidity, well-rested fairways. June to September is hotter (28–32 °C) but early-morning tee times are perfectly playable, and green fees often drop.
All ten courses accept direct online bookings via their official websites. For multi-round trips, specialised operators (TeeTimes, Golfbreaks, Leading Courses) often package green fees with accommodation.
Expect €60–€120 at mid-tier courses (Santa Clara, Cabopino, Santa María), €120–€180 at the major Golf Valley clubs (Los Naranjos, La Quinta), and €200+ at the championship venues (Las Brisas, Aloha, Finca Cortesín). Buggies are often included; some hilly courses (Marbella Club, Higuerón Marbella) require them.
Several premier clubs (Las Brisas, Aloha, Finca Cortesín, Marbella Club) require a handicap certificate — typically 28 for men and 36 for ladies. Collared shirts and tailored shorts or trousers are standard; soft spikes only.
For many of our clients, the natural next step after discovering Marbella's golf is owning a home on or next to a fairway. Panorama has been Marbella's longest-established real estate agency since 1970, and frontline-golf villas and apartments — particularly in Nueva Andalucía, La Quinta, Río Real and Cabopino — are one of our specialities.

"Golf Valley" is the local name for Nueva Andalucía, a residential valley behind Puerto Banús that contains four of Marbella's top golf clubs: Las Brisas, Los Naranjos, Aloha and (just across the ridge) La Quinta.
Finca Cortesín hosted the 2023 Solheim Cup, won by Europe in dramatic fashion. The course remains one of the most sought-after tee times in the area.
