Panorama made history in 1970 as Marbella’s first international real estate agency, paving the way for a new era of professionalism on the Costa del Sol. This is where our journey began.
The origins of Marbella’s first international real estate agency
When people think of luxury real estate in Marbella today, the name Panorama is often the first that comes to mind. But what many may not realise is, we were the first. Not just in reputation or longevity, but literally: Panorama was the first international real estate agency to set up in Marbella, back in 1970.
This is the story of how it all began, and how a four-generation family legacy helped shape the golden coast we know today.
To understand Panorama’s roots, we need to go back to Chicago, 1904, where a man named Burtt Byron Clover started his real estate firm, B.B. Clover & Co.

From father to son, real estate became the family’s lifeblood. By the 1950s, Burtt’s son, Bill Clover, was already a successful developer in Virginia. His work laid the foundation for what would soon become a very international story.
1970: Arrival in Marbella, and a new beginning
Panorama International Ltd., originally headquartered in Washington, D.C., opened a small but trailblazing real estate office in Marbella in 1970. Back then, Marbella was still a well-kept secret: elegant, quiet, and full of promise.

The office was set up in Edificio Capitol on Avenida Ricardo Soriano, and was the first international agency of its kind on the Costa del Sol. It was more than a move; it was a signal. Marbella was on the world map.
1973–1975: Christopher Clover joins and takes the lead
In 1973, a young Christopher Clover, already well-versed in international real estate, moved to Marbella to manage the office. Just two years later, in 1975, he acquired the Marbella branch from Panorama International and made it a fully independent company.
From then on, Panorama wasn’t just the first to arrive; it was here to stay.
"I fell in love with the people, the landscape, and the energy of Marbella. I knew this place had something truly unique."

The first to set the standard
Panorama wasn’t content with just being first. It also introduced practices that were revolutionary at the time:
Hosting Marbella’s first real estate flight inspection tours
Organizing Marbella’s first Open House long before they were common in Spain
Collaborating with other agents in a time when competition meant closed doors
These ideas helped shape the industry, and the city, into what it is today.

A legacy of trust and excellence
Today Panorama is still family-owned and operated, with Christopher Clover at the helm, joined by his children Alex and Katinka, the fourth generation in the Clover real estate dynasty.
Together, we lead a multilingual, multicultural team of over 30 professionals based in prime offices at Puente Romano Beach Resort and opposite the Marbella Club Hotel. Together we speak 13 languages, but more importantly, we all speak Panorama: a language of integrity, transparency, and professionalism.

The only RICS-regulated agency in Marbella
Panorama isn’t just trusted because of its history, it’s trusted because of its standards. It is the only agency in Marbella regulated by RICS (Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors), meaning clients are guaranteed the highest level of ethics and expertise in the field.
55 years and still innovating
In 2020, Panorama celebrated 50 years in Marbella, not just with words, but with action. We renovated our offices, strengthened our market research, and reinvested in the community we helped grow. Now, over half a century since our first open day, we’re still here, still leading, and still loving every minute of it.

So, why does being “first” matter?
Because being first means laying foundations, not just in buildings, but in trust. It means evolving alongside the town you helped develop. It means decades of experience, but also decades of listening, improving, and staying deeply rooted in values.
Marbella has changed. Panorama has grown. But our purpose has stayed crystal clear: To offer our clients a level of knowledge, service, and integrity they won’t find anywhere else.
