The history of Las Lomas del Marbella Club

Las Lomas del Marbella Club is one of Marbella’s most established and prestigious residential urbanisations, with a history closely tied to the evolution of the Golden Mile. The original developers of Sierra Blanca, S.A. included pioneering Marbella developer Rafael Zea, known for the Skol Building in Marbella town and other prime developments, together with the respected banker Enrique Pérez Flores, who later went on to develop La Zagaleta, as well as two other associates.

The original developers behind the urbanisation

From the outset, Las Lomas del Marbella Club was conceived as a high-quality residential estate in a privileged setting, combining generous plot sizes, mature landscaping and excellent infrastructure. Over time, it became one of the defining residential areas of Marbella, surrounded by some of the town’s most important private estates and sought-after communities.

Panorama’s longstanding connection to Las Lomas

Las Lomas del Marbella Club was Panorama Properties’ first sole agency for an entire urbanisation, granted in 1974 by Rafael Zea to Christopher Clover. Panorama played an important role in the sale of most of the plots in the years that followed, contributing directly to the shaping and consolidation of this landmark residential area.

A well-established residential enclave in Marbella

Today, Las Lomas del Marbella Club is fully consolidated, offering a rare sense of tranquillity in one of Marbella’s best-located residential settings. Its established character, mature gardens and low-density layout create an atmosphere that few urbanisations can match.

Residential communities within Las Lomas del Marbella Club

Las Lomas del Marbella Club is not a single homogeneous development, but a broader residential estate made up of several well-known communities that add character, variety and prestige to the area.

Lomas del Marbella Club Pueblo

Lomas del Marbella Club Pueblo is one of Marbella’s most distinctive communities, designed in the style of a traditional Andalusian village. Created by pioneer American developer Bill Genske and his wife Sylvia, with design by Donald Grey, development began in 1973 and was completed by the mid-1990s. Its authentic village atmosphere and architectural charm make it one of the most unique enclaves within Las Lomas del Marbella Club.

El Ancón Sierra and El Ancón Alto

El Ancón Sierra and El Ancón Alto were developed in the mid-1980s by John David Green, the talented London-born developer also associated with the elegant beachside estate of El Ancón next to Oasis Club. These communities further enriched the quality and architectural diversity of Las Lomas del Marbella Club.

Other notable developments

Other important complexes within the urbanisation include Coto Real, developed by Ros y Falcón, King’s Hills, Las Terrazas de Las Lomas del Marbella Club, developed by Rafael Zea, and several smaller communities that contribute to the area’s residential depth and appeal.

Distinguished estates and landmark residences

Las Lomas del Marbella Club is also home to some of the most remarkable private estates in Marbella, reinforcing its reputation as one of the coast’s most prestigious residential addresses.

Al Riyadh and the estate of Prince Salman

In the southernmost section of Las Lomas lies Al Riyadh, the estate of H.R.H. Prince Salman bin Abdul Aziz Al Saud. The original acquisition of a group of properties in this area was coordinated by Panorama in 1977, and the estate was expanded and improved over the years to become his permanent summer residence in Marbella. Covering at least 200,000 square metres, Al Riyadh stretches down towards the main road south of Las Lomas.

Prince Salman also commissioned the King Abdul Aziz Mosque in honour of his late father in the late 1970s. Designed by the Marbella architect Juan Mora Urbano, the mosque remains one of the area’s best-known landmarks. He also funded the nearby overpass as a gift to the city, helping improve road safety for both residents and visitors.

Khaldia, Jasminoor and other exceptional homes

Other notable estates include Khaldia, the residence of Wafic Rida Saïd, designed by the renowned architect Bob Mosher, and Jasminoor, the palace of Sheikh Hassan M. Enany, created by Jaime Larrain and Christian Larrain in the early 1980s. Alongside many other beautiful homes owned by international families, these properties underline the scale, privacy and architectural prestige that define Las Lomas del Marbella Club.
