The event provided a valuable forum for discussing the future of the sector, strengthening international cooperation and addressing the challenges and opportunities shaping real estate across Europe. The strategic discussion sessions also showcased Andalusian heritage, with lifestyle and gastronomy activities.
Held on 28th and 29th May, the meeting brought together some of the most influential voices in European property, including Sales Operations Manager at Panorama, Alfonso Muñoz. Discussions focused on regulatory developments, professional standards, market trends and the importance of maintaining consumer confidence through transparency and ethical business practices.
"The event gave a sense of great unity and professionalism of the industry and was a great networking opportunity."

GIPE is an active member of the European Association of Real Estate Professions (CEPI), based in Brussels. This connection gives GIPE a voice in shaping decisions affecting the real estate sector at a European level, while helping ensure that its agents meet the highest quality standards.”

GIPE also held its General Assembly, where members voted on new amendments to the association’s statutes. The annual accounts were presented, and both GIPE’s legal and training teams took part in the session. One of the most notable points discussed was the approval of a new measure allowing GIPE to formally warn or sanction associated agencies that fail to comply with GIPE’s code of ethics.
This decision reinforces a growing trend across Europe: the recognition that professional accountability and consumer protection are essential pillars of a healthy real estate market.
Raising standards in an international market
Alfred van Krimpen, President of GIPE, noted that “welcoming CEPI to the Costa del Sol is an opportunity to bring together European real estate leaders in a setting that inspires both strategic thinking and authentic professional relationships.” He added that this collaboration is precisely what ensures Spanish professionals remain aligned with European standards and play an active role in shaping the future of the sector.
As Marbella and the Costa del Sol continue to attract buyers from across Europe and beyond, the importance of internationally recognised professional standards has never been greater.

Today’s property transactions are increasingly cross-border. Buyers are often purchasing in jurisdictions unfamiliar to them, navigating different legal systems, tax structures and market practices. In this environment, trust becomes one of the most valuable assets an estate agency can offer.
Professional organisations such as GIPE, CEPI and FIABCI have long recognised that maintaining high standards of conduct benefits not only consumers but the reputation of the entire industry. By promoting ethical practices, continuous education and international collaboration, these organisations help create a more transparent and professional marketplace.
For buyers and sellers alike, working with agencies that actively participate in recognised professional bodies provides an additional layer of reassurance. It demonstrates a commitment to accountability, ongoing professional development and adherence to established codes of conduct.

Marbella’s position on the international stage
The choice of the Costa del Sol as host for this important meeting is no coincidence. Marbella has evolved into one of Europe’s most international residential markets, attracting clients from dozens of nationalities and increasingly competing with other global luxury destinations.

As international demand continues to drive the local property market, the region benefits from strong connections with European and global professional networks. These relationships facilitate knowledge sharing, improve industry standards and help ensure that Marbella remains a trusted destination for property investment.
For agencies operating at the highest level of the market, maintaining those international connections is not simply a matter of prestige—it is a professional responsibility.

Why accreditation matters to clients
For clients buying or selling property in Marbella, accreditation is not merely a credential displayed on a website or office wall. It is evidence of a company’s commitment to professionalism and accountability. International affiliations and regulatory oversight help ensure that agencies operate according to clearly defined standards, maintain transparent procedures and place the interests of their clients at the centre of every transaction.
In an increasingly complex and global property market, these qualities are becoming more important than ever.
The GIPE–CEPI meeting on the Costa del Sol served as a timely reminder that the future of real estate belongs to professionals and organisations that embrace collaboration, uphold ethical standards and continuously invest in excellence.
